GMDC’s solar energy journey reflects its growing commitment to clean, decentralised power generation. With a current installed capacity of 5 MW, the company has already established a presence in solar through ground-mounted and rooftop installations across Gujarat.
In FY 2023–24, GMDC’s solar assets generated 5.48 million units of renewable electricity. The largest contribution came from the 3 MW ground-mounted solar plant at Maliya, which produced 4.02 million units during the year. Additional solar power was generated through installations at GMDC’s corporate office and select project locations, further embedding clean energy into the organisation’s day-to-day operations.
Going forward, GMDC plans to expand its solar capacity significantly, including exploring hybrid models that integrate wind and solar for optimised energy output. These initiatives not only support Gujarat’s renewable energy goals but also reinforce GMDC’s ambition to become a key player in India’s evolving green energy landscape.
